Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all, I’ve had type 2 diabetes since October 2018.steroid induced after having a chest infection.still confused, still overwhelmed.having a low day today.. I was wondering if anyone has high blood sugar for the week leading up to a period. No matter what I do, I struggle to go below 15 on the meter and wow do I feel crappy. I take metformin and gliclazide . I have lost 2 stone since I found out and I need to lose another 4 stone.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

The answer to your question is yes. Sometimes a few days, sometimes a week. Beyond frustrating, when hormones can already be making you feel crappy and low, before adding in the high sugar levels not making you feel great either. Even though I now know what the cause is, it still drives me mad every time. I have asked a similar question myself on the forum and others came back saying fluctuating hormones affected them too.

Being type 1 however, I’m afraid I can’t really advise on how you would cope with those sugar levels. Hopefully they will be back to normal very soon.

Diabetes can be overwhelming when diagnosed, there’s much to get your head round. Sounds like you have done well with weight loss, thats quite an achievement in itself, so well done.

There’s lots of helpful advice on the forum if you have a mooch about, and lovely knowledgeable members to help with any questions.

I hope you feel better and your mood lifts soon,🙂

Hello and welcome to the forum. We know when our type 1 daughter is due for hers because her BG s are constantly high.

Hello and well done on the weight loss. 🙂

Can't offer any advice on the other thing as I'm past all that thank goodness. There are some benefits to getting old, I get a bus pass too. :D

Thank you guys for making me feel so welcome, feeling slightly better today ☺️ The week run up to the period makes me insane, you try so hard to get the right balance and then you see high readings and panic sets in for me. This forum makes you realise your not alone which helps a lot.
