😱😱😱Hello everyone, just joined the forum, looking forward to good tips.
I have had type 2 for 10yrs.
Just on the point of avoiding INSULIN, very scarey.
Love to hear any comments.
😱

Glad to see some new virtual faces, welcome eileen

Hi and welcome!

It took me eight years to reach that stage but over the last two years I have totally reversed that situation. Foer me these days, the need to move onto insulin injections seems a million miles away. My GP has now started to reduce my metformin and I hope to get off it altogether before too long.

I have found that a great deal is achievable through diet.

Good luck and best wishes - John

Hi. Welcome to the forum.
You say your on the point of avoiding insulin, very scarey.
What do you find scarey about it.
I have been type2 for 5 years and on insulin for 5 years, theres nothing to be scared of.

John

Welcome to the forum Eileen. 🙂

I can understand what you say about insulin (I think that I feel the same way too, if I'm being honest), but the bottom line is that when you need it, you need it!

Hi Eileen, welcome to the forum 🙂 I can imagine that a change to your medication regime can be worrying, especially if it involves injecting rather than just extra pills, but I assure you you will quickly get to grips with it and it will be a minor inconvenience most of the time. I think it is particularly daunting for Type 2s who have time to build up a bit of apprehension about insulin, whereas someone who is put on it from diagnosis don't have that time.

The insulin pens use tiny needles and you are just injecting into the fatty layers beneath the skin, so most of the time you won't even feel it. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, or if you need some reassurance! No question is considered 'silly'! :D

Hi Eileen and a warm welcome to the forum i went from being on meds to going onto byetta which is injectible like insulin it has worked wonders for me but i can understand the scaryness of insulin i was the same, i hate needles myself..

Thanks for your comments much apreciated.
I have other medical probs which require medication, so the insulin
seems another bridge to cross and more medication in the body.
But what will be will be.
I am really trying with the food intake, exercise is one of my problems
due to arthritis but i am trying.
Thanks again will visit the site to give me encouragment..
