Do mention your worries about his reducing weight. We have lots of members on Metformin and significant (and ongoing) weight loss doesn’t seem to be a common experience.

As others have said, he may need alternative medication, like insulin, to help him absorb glucose from food rather than it just staying in his blood stream until he passes it in urine.
