hi all, my doc put me on new meds, pantoprazole 20 mg and glucophage metormine500 mg she said it might help with my sickly feelings one daley:confused:

Fingers crossed Rosie. At least they're listening, but don't hesitate to whinge at them if it doesn't work.

Hi Rosie, the pantoprazole will stop your stomach making so much acid. I've been taking something similar for years for constant heartburn. I take mine in the morning.

Does your Glucophage have the letters SR after the name?

why

thanks alison & leelee, lee do diabetic make mor acid, l allso get alfull acid

My problem is a very small hernia at the top of my stomach, too small to operate on. It lets acid leak upward, causing heartburn. Mine was caused by a lot of coughing from lifelong asthma. I had it 30 years before I developed diabetes.

If your sicky feeling is caused by the metformin, having the SR version might help because it doesn't dissolve until after it has gone past the stomach.

Some of the medications do cause heartburn. I find a little milk puts out the fire.

l wonder

lee lee l wonder if lve got a hernia, as last winter l had very bad boncitus and had to have statings.

One bout of bronchitis is unlikely to do it, but you never know. The way to detect it is via a gastroscopy, where they stick a camera down your throat. Ugh! It's quite expensive, so they usually only bother if they suspect something nasty. In my case, the drug ending with ...zole (mine is lansoprazole) taken once a day makes the problem go away.

I refused to take metformin because it made me sick im now on linagliptin as well as insulin and feeling much better,it was a visit to see the doctor about constant heartburn she asked me lay on the couch so she could examine my stomach and as i layed back she said oh you have a hernia apparently you dont notice it when you are relaxed but you get an egg shaped bulge in the center of your stomach when you sit up or lay down also now on lansoprazole and thats helped.
