new kitchen project before and after

another days work hubby has knocked off now, daughter and boyfriend tired out there working at 6am tomorrow, cooker in place one of the lower base units almost done our cat loves it, dishwasher plumbed in the other side of the kitchen as is the tumble dryer and washing machine no units there as yet, but we can wash all the pots now and at least the boxes that were in the living room are now in the kitchen

Great to see the progress @Pam123

And the movement of boxes from the living room must be a great symbol of things happening 🙂

Mine put the shower door on upside down! this means the opening bit is next to the wall rather than further across the room and easier to step in and out of.

I always think an inexpensive kitchen/bathroom if fitted well can look good but even expensive ones fitted badly will look awful.
We were surprised at the different ways supplier charged for fitting, one quote we had they had a charge for each component of the kitchen, and it added to more than the price of the kitchen. The one we went for was a standard charge which was about 8% but the fitter sorted out all the problems with the supplier, eg wrong end panels supplied. Money well spent.

It still looks chaos but coming on well. Your fridge looks huge.

progress update all the units are up, most of the doors were waiting for a double glass door coming next week and a kitchen sink draw, the doors are all covered with protective coat of blue plastic which were leaving on until the decorating is done, handles to go on plinths to go on the work tops are still being dressed so not fixed down yet next step is tiling some painting and a new UVPC ceiling.

When we had our new kitchen in was in a new extension so really a blank canvass but we painted the walls before the units were installed as it was easy at that stage.
It was much harder when it needed repainting due to smoke damage from a small fire I had with leaving a wok on the hop with some oil for making a stirfry and getting distracted. I chickened out and got a decorator in to do it./

yes we should have done the same to be honest, were doing a mix of tiles and wallpaper the only painting will be the window and door frames, hubby is going to line the remaining walls with plaster board so he has a smooth surface to work on.

I loved when I had my kitchen done about five years ago, great watching it come together

I’m very jealous of the new cooker! Definitely too many knobs on the front for me to manage. Great job, almost done. Good idea to keep your daughter’s boyfriend in a cupboard against future need …

hubby loves the cooker, he does 90% of the cooking, as for our daughter boyfriend I couldn't agree more.

here is another update pictures taken tonight in picture one the draws at the side of the cooker are the colour of the kitchen
