Hi Folks

I have been type two since 2014. When I was first diagnosed I didn’t believe or accept it as I had no symptoms whatsoever and carried on in my own little world until 2016 when I was put on metformin. I take two a day. I need to lose weight and find it difficult to find a diet that suits me. I have lost weight on slimming world and low carb but I have always put it back on again. I hope I can find help and support and also give help and support in turn.

Welcome to the club no one wants to join.

I have found you have to find a way of eating that works for you and can maintain long term. Unfortunately there is not a one size fits all solution.

Hello and welcome to the forum Foxont. 🙂

Welcome to the forum Foxont. As Grovesy says, it needs to be a diet that can be stuck at long term. When you find it, can you tell the rest of us? :D

Welcome to the forum @foxont

Have you been able to get a blood glucose monitor to se how your body responds to different foods? Many T2 members here find it really helps to improve their self-management if you can see the effect of what you are eating by checking before a meal and then an hour or two hours later. Then gradually aiming for more the BG-friendly foods, with occasional treats.

Lots of T2 members here also recommend the book by Gretchen Becker. There’s a link in the useful info thread at the top of the newbies section.
