Hello Barbora and a warm welcome to the UK and to our friendly supportive forum
🙂 Truly sorry to hear you have diabetes but glad you found us as there is a collective wealth of knowledge here ~ being type2 I'm unable to advise you but there are type1's who will see your post and respond.
In the meantime if you go to 'Diabetes Support Forums' and scroll down 8 threads you will see a thread called Parents ~ click on that to see JDRF Type1 for schools information. Here's the link:-

There are lots of threads there that you will find interesting & helpful reading too.
One way to help manage our individual diabetes is to curb our intake of carborhydrates ~ this means no white flour products, bread pasta rice ~ or vegetables grown in the ground i.e. carrots swedes beetroot etc. although some of us can tolerate those foods in small quantities ~ so keep an eye on portion size.
Most of us test our waking bgls (blood glucose levels) BEFORE we get out of bed in the mornings so do remember to keep your meter testing kit by your bedside. Once we get out of bed, levels will elevate. How many times a day do you test your bgls? Most of us also test before each meal and then 2 hours after each meal to see which food we can tolerate and those that we don't.
@Northerner @Bubbsie @Ljc and others will come along to advise you further and offer more information and links.
I can recommend the book CARB&CAL COUNTER which Amazon sell for approximately £10. There's over 1700 coloured photo's detailing how many carbs are in different foods. If you can fund this book yourself then its worth buying.
We're not all Saints on here as we occasionally relax our diets a little from time to time
🙄 but in the main we each do our best to control our individual diabetes.
Good luck with your diabetes Barbora and good luck with your studies ~ I hope you settle in nicely at your boarding school & will be happy in your new surroundings
🙂Ask as many questions as you like and as often as you want ~ we are here to help you & accompany you on your diabetes journey so you are not alone, take care x
