Welcome @Roskoe It’s perfectly normal to feel a bit muddled and overwhelmed at first. Ask anything you want - nothing is too trivial. Everyone here is friendly and helpful 🙂

Here are the targets for Type 2s. It sounds like you’re doing well:

If you have type 2 diabetes

  • before meals: 4 to 7mmol/l
  • two hours after meals: less than 8.5mmol/l

thanks for the welcome and links I was paranoid I had to be below 6.5 I feel a bit better now cheers

Even people without diabetes don’t stay below 6.5 all the time. They can occasionally go up to the 10s and often around 8 after a meal before coming back down. Your numbers look good 🙂

cool you have no idea the fretting I'm doing with my first yearly blood tests coming next month will this test be for the 3 month average as I had a wee cheat or 2 over xmas lol or just routine blood work?

Welcome to the forum @Roskoe

Don't worry about feeling overwhelmed - it's very common to feel knocked slightly sideways by a diabetes diagnosis. Be kind to yourself.

Sounds like you are doing really well, and your results seem very stable, with small rises after meals - which is a good thing and suggests your metabolism is able to deal with the carbs in your meals efficiently.

Do feel free to keep asking any questions you have - and don't worry about things being posted in the 'wrong place', the mods can easily move any threads that feel like they might 'fit' or get more responses elsewhere. 🙂

thanks for replies and advice folks I appreciate it a lot, I'm off to have a better lookie loo through the forum and try and understand all the lingo

You could ask. They’ll probably do an HbA1C (the 3 month average), and often do cholesterol and other lipids too, along with kidney and liver function.
