Relationship to Diabetes

I started noticing my wee looks bubbly or foamy. So I called my GP and was booked on fasting blood sugar. My first one was 7.2mg/mol while my second was 7.4.
Then I was placed on Metformin 500mgx3ce daily.

Welcome to the forum @Bimtom

It’s slightly unusual to get a diagnosis with diabetes based only on fasting fingerstick readings these days. It’s more common to have an HbA1c reading or two (which usually involves blood drawn from your arm being sent to a lab, and doesn’t need to be a fasting check).

Do you know if your HbA1c was taken as well? This would be a number of 48mmol/mol or above.

How are you finding the Metformin so far? Have you made any changes to your menu alongside starting the meds?

My HbA1c is 51mmol/mol

The blood test involves blood drawn from my arm and was sent to the lab for pathology report

Ah OK, so you weren’t all that far into the diabetes zone then 🙂

Hopefully a few modest tweaks to your menu, along with the gentle support of metformin (which works away in the background, rather than specifically working on meals you eat) will help steer your blood glucose into a healthy range 🙂
