It’s slightly unusual to get a diagnosis with diabetes based only on fasting fingerstick readings these days. It’s more common to have an HbA1c reading or two (which usually involves blood drawn from your arm being sent to a lab, and doesn’t need to be a fasting check).
Do you know if your HbA1c was taken as well? This would be a number of 48mmol/mol or above.
How are you finding the Metformin so far? Have you made any changes to your menu alongside starting the meds?
