Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I’m T2 and currently self isolating for 12 weeks. My mum died this morning in a care home, possibly with Coronavirus . Am I safe to attend her cremation?

So sorry to hear your news @Serenityxx. What a difficult time for you.

Having Diabetes makes you no more likely to catch the virus, so you are as safe as others to attend the crematorium. My understanding is that they are dealing with the situation as sensitively as they can and maintaining social distancing.

Take care and keep in touch.

Hello @Serenityxx
So sorry to hear about the death of your mother, there will be a lot of difficult things and emotions for you to deal with at this time.
I hope you find time to visit the forum again and let us know how it is all going for you.

So sorry to hear about your Mum @Serenityxx - deepest condolences to you and your family.

My understanding is that funerals are being limited to close family only so that social distancing can be maintained, and there are fewer risks of people passing on the virus if they are asymptomatic.

Obviously folks should stay away if they have any cold or flu-like symptoms, and close family from different households should be careful to keep apart and to wash hands etc.

Hope these additional restrictions do not prevent you from celebrating your Mum’s life. It’s a very difficult time for these events, but I hope you can give your Mum a good send off.

So very sorry for your loss Serenity, my thought are with you and your family x
