Hello @RobertBruce
So good that you have joined the forum, there is plenty of help and support here.
Diagnosis can be a bit of a shock, but although Diabetes is a serious disease, there are plenty of things that you can do to help yourself, and these can lead to some good lifestyle changes.

The 3 main things that can help are:
Healthy eating, and the right solution for you to lower your blood sugars, and if you are overweight, loosing weight will help a lot. Secondly increasing exercise, and thirdly medication which may be necessary depending on what your blood sugar readings are.
There is a lot of information and ideas on how people are dealing with on the various threads on the forum.
(2) Useful links for people new to diabetes | Diabetes UK may help and also the Learning Zone orange tab at the top of this page.
If you can tell us a bit more about your diagnosis and any help you have been offered, we may be able to give you some more pointers.
We are always happy to try and answer any questions.

Welcome to the forum Robert from a fellow T2.

Welcome to the forum @RobertBruce

Try not to be disheartened about your diagnosis, many people on the forum later reflect that their diagnosis was actually a catalyst which prompted them to make positive changes towards a healthier and more active life.

Diabetes is a serious condition, but it’s also one that can usually be managed well with a few changes and adaptations - it’s something that you can learn to live well with, and it shouldn’t stop you doing things you enjoy.

If you’d like a good groinding and explanation of the basics of T2, members here frequently recommend Maggie Davey’s Letter and Gretchen Becker’s book, as very helpful starting points

Good luck and keep asking questions 🙂
