You're right @gail2, it's an area that should be talked about more and in time that will help to breakdown the stigma and taboo of it. There's certainly far more emphasis in men's sexual health than there is in women's.

Hi :hello:. I've reopened this thread as our Content team are looking to rewrite our Diabetes and Sexual Problems in Women webpage. https://www.diabetes.org.uk/about-diabetes/complications/sexual-problems-women

As part of the rewrite, they'd like to include someone’s experience on the page, in a couple of quotes or as a story (anonymously) (as we do on the men’s page).

If anyone in this thread might be interested in having a chat with the Content team about sexual complications in women please let me know via a direct message. Thanks! :thankyou:<3
Anna I cannot really add to the content but it is a topic I would like to know more about. I read in the diabetes UK magazine when I was newly diagnosed (my grandad paid for the subscription) about a lady who had issues with feeling anything anymore, she didn't know it was a risk. That was nearly 20 years ago and it sticks in my mind.

When my levels are high my body doesn't feel right, it feels weird so even if the mood is right it is nearly an out of body experience. And it so annoying to have to say "I'd love to have sex but I can't right now". With the right person it one of the joys of life. And it never gets spoken about.

A reminder that SSRIs and other anti depressants reduce feelings of orgasm or can make orgasms more difficult for both men and women so that may also be part of the story for some women as well as diabetes.
