Sorry if this is a daft question, so I started recoding my BS levels on the 2nd March of this year. I'm also recording what I eat, and the net carbs. I did't realise, what Net carbs are. But now I know to minus the Dietary fibre 😉
So one of the foods, I use is Viv Era - Plant chicken breast style, 180 gram.
Carbohydrates 1.8 g
of which sugars 0.1 g
Dietary fibre 8.6 g

So do I record the Carbs as 0, due to the Dietary fibre.

Thanks
Joe

Net carbs is more an American thing as their fibre isn't deducted from the carbohydrate value, if your in the UK then the fibre has already been deducted so you use the total carbs so it would be 1.8g carbs xx

Hi Kayla,
Thanks, I'm confused now lol. I must watched a youtube vid, and not realised they where talking about "American" version of carbs .
Thanks
Joe

Right so the body doesn't digest fibre, American labels have total carbohydrates which also includes the fibre but it has to be deducted to get the net carbs but the UK labels already have the fibre deducted from the carbs so you use the carb value as it is stated, fibre - UK, fiber - US xx

If only negative carb was a thing....

Beware using US products/websites. The clue is in the spelling - US "net carbs" is total carbs minus fibER. In the UK, fibRE is not included in total carbs, so total carbs is already "net carbs".

@Kaylz
I think I need to slowdown, and concentrate one thing. Since I got put on Metformin SR, I'm reading every thing I can find & watching youtube. Nearly 24/7, so I'm going to take a beep breath and concentrate on recording BS and what I eat. then I can see, where I'm going wrong with my food .

The spelling is wasted on me lol I’m #MadeByDyslexia – expect creative thinking & creative spelling. 😉
