Type 2
Hi,my hubby has just been told he's Type 2, and I have no idea where to start re food, wheres best to find out good/bad items and general advice...the tablets are knocking him about too

Welcome Sasha

I'd start by cutting or reducing carb sources such as bread, rice, pasta, cereals & starchy vegetables (such as potatoes.... Instead replacing them with green leafy vegetables

The net thing would be to start testing, it's unlikely that you will be issued a meter so self funding is the way to go. Many members purchased the SD Codefree from Amazon.

Hi there and welcome. Have you had a look at the "newbie" section of the forum yet? The first item on there is links to helpful information for those just starting their new journey.

Hello Sasha

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. As has been suggested, you might find some info in the 'Useful Links' thread helpful - https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/threads/useful-links-for-people-new-to-diabetes.10406/

Members here often recommend 'Jennifer's Advice' and 'Test Review Adjust' or Maggie Davey's letter as a good starting point.

You may also find Gretchen Becker's book a thorough and clearly written explanation of what type 2 diabetes is and how to begin adapting to it in the first year.
