Hello lovelies , so I’m doing well on the low carb diet and I’m loosing weight but how do you ladies and gentleman deal with sugar cravings ? I haven’t had the craving for very long like for 2 days out of like 5-6 weeks being on low carb , is this normal ? And how do I fix this problem ?? I’m drinking 1.9 litres of water everyday and I eat protein (meat) , a lot of veggies and I’m kinda skimping out of fruit besides berries only because I have no idea what other fruits I can eat . I use to eat fruit everyday but now knowing what I know about the type of sugar they have I been limiting myself to berries with full fat Greek yoghurt . For lunch if my fiancée wants take out I go for subway and there salad bowls, because again I have no idea what else I can have . But yes please I need advice on the sugar craving , I mean it isn’t strong to the point I’ll grab something sugary but it’s there and let’s me know about it. Is there something else I can add to my low carb diet that can sink out this particular craving ???? .
Thankyou

I regularly have fruit with my lunch such as a kiwi, or hunks of melon. Try and test!

Fair enough - so try some of your go-to fruits and see what happens. For example, an apple might be too much but half may be ok for you, ditto 40g of grapes rather than an 80g portion.

It's also a good idea to retest with some added fats eg yoghurt or cream. 🙂

Thankyou for that Ellsbells , unfortnately I can’t do kiwi fruit it burns my tongue for some reason . I love melons though .
Do you by any chance have a latex allergy, I have a mild allergy and can't eat Kiwi fruit.
I don't know if you can get in Aus but Nature Valley Protein bars are only about 12g carb based on nuts but are quite sweet and I just have a quarter with a cuppa sometimes.
If you are testing you could try nectarine or peach, or a small amount of mango.

A square of 80% dark chocolate broken in half to make 2 portions and bulked out with a spoon of peanut butter (crunchy) works for me or the Natura Valley Protein bars mentioned above... The salted caramel variety is under 10g carbs and tastes very sweet to me and satisfying. The suggestion to have half a fruit instead of a whole one or just a small portion is good and to have it with something fatty like half and apple sliced with peanut butter or cheese if you don't necessarily want sweet although I appreciate your request is for sweet cravings or half a small banana sliced with cream or whole milk natural yoghurt. As with everything try, test and adjust portion size or type of fruit as necessary.

I did do an allergy test a long time ago ( when I was a kid/teen and It never came up on that test , Its never burnt my tongue when I was younger only when I got older, could it easily develope into an allergy later in life ??? If so when I go see my new doctor I’ll ask her for one. I have mentioned to my old doctor about my tongue burning on kiwi fruit and never been bothered by it at all .

Hello and welcome. 🙂 Very interesting about the kiwi fruit.

How about making up some sugar free jelly?
You can add berries, or cream or yoghurt - or even some real custard - eggs and cream, which could be sweetened with an artificial sweetener such as Swerve if necessary.
I used to make small pots of jelly for school lunches in cups with snap on tops which worked well for eating out of the house, if you need to do that.

Hello birdy and Thankyou , I know I was totally fine when I was a kid , I would eat it all the time , I’m guessing late teens and all of my 20’s it’s started to burn my tongue . It’s got me very confused .

I've not come across Jelly Lite, but any sugar free jelly with zero carbs is fine - as is pure gelatine which can be flavoured coloured or mixed in
