Type 2
Hi all,

I have managed to what I think reverse my diabetes type 2 for about 8 months now. I have a good weight but about a week ago I started getting hungry after meals, like 2 hours. My sugar levels are OK, between 5,1-6,1 and when I wake up in the morning 4,8-5,1. But this is really annoying. Any thoughts on this, no high values. I had quite low values like a month ago, but now they have increased. But except for this, I feel OK but do not like this Unger feeling. Any thoughts? Many thanks for your help!

Congratulations on your great progress so far @cll9090

From memory, the DiRECT trial considers ‘reversal’ to be maintaining an HbA1c below 48 on two or more occasions with no medication. Not sure if that is the definition you are using? Or if you are just going on the great BG results you seem to be getting?

How is your weight? Is it stable and roughly where you want it?

Forum members who are in a maintenance phase sometimes increase the proportion of good fats and proteins in their diet to increase a sense of fullness while also keeping their weight stable and their BGs in line.

Have you been aiming for a low/moderate carb approach, or limiting calories?

I have an HBa1C of 29. But I noticed that I got hunger after about two to three hours after I have eaten something. I was worried that I have got leptin resistance, but I am not sure. My sugar is good and my weight could be a little more. I have been on a low calorie diet for a long time, more than I should have so I have limited my calories per day, except for a few days in he week. So maybe this calorie restriction is the cause of this. I am just a little worried. Hope you understand what I mean. I have days when I only have two meals, but not enough calories.

Sounds like you have room to add some more food if you are below your target weight? As I said, fats and proteins might help with feeling fuller?
