My Type 2 journey

I love a salad but with it I like new potatoes, there is the no go now.

What could I beef up a salad with so it is more filling, I find a salad with no carbs not very satisfying
you could add a cooked chicken breast to the salad or tuna you could add some lentils to it or chick peas

Just had my review with the diabetic nurse and she is well happy at how my results have come back after my first three months. I told her I was a bit deflated by only a small drop in my HbA1c score and she said it was a fine start I should be pleased as it was a positive result and not negative.

I asked her about a blood glucose machine and she told me I don't need to use one as my blood sugar is well under control, she said if it get to a stage where it is out of control she will give me one but not now

Got to go again in 6 months

Feeling a bit happier now I've talked to her, she is very good at her job
Sounds like a positive review Ian and going on your current progress I think you will be pleased with your next blood test and review in 6 months time. Onwards and downwards ! (As they say on this forum). Wishing you all the best.

Thanks guys I do feel better after talking to her.

Salads, I was looking yesterday and a few new potatoes is the lowest of the carb options so I'll beef it up with a few of them, I love chicken, fish and eggs so any of them would fill a hole. When I have salad it just doesn't seem filling on its own, my missus just had a salad with just a couple of slices of ham, that just wouldn't cut it with me

I had a pneumonia injection this morning, felt really sleepy all day which isn't like me at all and it feels like I've been punched in the arm, very sore

Reaching 60 I suppose

Are chickpeas ok on carbs? I love them. Never tried lentils but would give it a go 🙂

@Ian Robinson

The village shop had some new 'Baby Lou' potatoes going for a song yesterday evening; we had just a few as a treat for supper. We filled up with protein and healthy fats (meat, avocado, olive oil / homemade mayo, full fat yogurt, seeds / nuts).

Are you getting enough protein and healthy fat?

Yes I was a regular gym user for a couple of years so always watching my protein intake maybe if finances get better in the next year I'll be able to join again 🙂

I love an avocado with chicken or a tin of Tesco mackerel and I always bulk boil eggs to eat during the week mainly for breakfast
