Thirteen years ago today, I underwent life preserving surgery. Three weeks previously it was discovered I had an apple sized tumour on my pancreas, it had to come out, along with my spleen, as could be cancerous. (It was pre- cancerous, no chemo needed. Phew!) The three weeks I spent in hospital, not even my local one but a two and a half hour round trip away one, wasn’t pleasant. It’s a big op and recovery didn’t go quite as well as was hoped. But I’m still here to tell the tale and annoy you lot early on a Saturday morning! I might now be a Type 3c diabetic, have a rubbish immune system and just recently found out I have a partial small bowel obstruction caused by scarring from my operation but I’m alive, and that’s all that matters. Obviously, I spent Christmas and New Year away from my family and that was sad, but I’ve made up for it since. Christmas and New Year happens every year, so if we have to miss the odd one with our families to potentially save lives well so be it. Mr Eggy and I will raise a glass of something cold and sparkly tonight to celebrate. 🙂

Very glad you are here to tell your tale @eggyg {{{HUGS}}} 🙂 Have to say, although I don't agree with almost all their philosophy, one thing always struck me about Jehovah's Witnesses. I used to work with a guy who was a JW and asked him why they didn't celebrate birthdays or Christmas - he replied that they saw every day as a celebration, which I think we could learn from now it's been brought home to us how precious and fragile life is 🙂 Here's to many more 🙂

it is surprising how fast time goes eggyg i lost an organ and that is nearly 18 years ago. at that time i thought no problems just remove it boy did i know about it afterwards.

enjoy your sparkly later on.

You’re so right Alan. Everyday is a celebration, well, it certainly is for Mr Eggy and I.

The day Princess Anne got married the first time, mom had invited an elderly friend round to watch it on TV with her as the friend still had a B&W TV. Lifelong friend - who my sister and I were both brought up calling 'Auntie' Bessie, so she was there as well as me, but I'd gone to the loo when the doorbell rang and mom was making us all a cup of coffee before the TV coverage started. The doorbell rang, so Auntie said, Oooh, shall I get that for you? and duly went to the front door and opened it - to a pair of JWs, by this time I'd finished and mom and I were both in the living room again, so we could hear everything clearly. What these unsuspecting lads hadn't the slightest clue about of course but we obviously both did, was that Bessie knew her Bible better than they did, having studied it for so very much longer than they - everything they quoted to her, she responded to with a quotation meaning the diametric opposite from somewhere else in that book - with the verse and chapter identification appropriate to it of course, then mom called her saying Your coffee's getting cold, Bessie! - whereupon B said, 'Ooh sorry, I need to go now, nice chatting to you! Bye.' And shut the door on them.

All three of us had a jolly good laugh together about that! Still amuses me today remembering it. There is a balance overall contained in the Book, simply because life itself is a mixture of both ends of the spectrum.

Great attitude, how I see life now after events of last few years.

JW get bad reputation, mainly cause knocking on doors pushing Watch Tower. Worked with guy who was JW, one of nicest guys you could ever meet & never once mentioned religion.

Enjoy Eggy's.

Enjoy your cold and sparkly something @eggyg. Glad you're here to brighten our mornings with your posts.

Several members of my family were JWs, my Dad hated them because of what they did to his family :( The guy I worked with never spoke about it unless asked. It's worth reading their history as an organisation.

I hope you had a very enjoyable celebration @eggyg
Glad to have you around to keep us on our toes.

I’m raising a coffee to you right now @eggyg. :D 🙂 😛 Happy Operversary!!!
