Niggles and drawbacks....
Doesn't accept half units of insulin which I was surprised at.
If you go into the Professional settings, and use the code that Lin gave you above, in Post #11, you can alter it to accept half units.(press the cog symbol, top right, then scroll to page 3)

It was very slow to respond to hypo treatment this morning compared to BG meter but I was patient and it probably takes 20-25 mins to register an improvement in levels, so need to factor that in.

Yes, you've got not just the 15 minutes or so for digestion, but another 10 or 15 minutes to get to the interstitial fluid. It always feels like much longer than it ought to take.

That's one of the things you can change in the professional options. (The other one is settings for the bolus calculator, which only works with test strips.)

Thanks so much for that guys. I did look to see if I could change the settings and came upon the professional options which was locked.... I obviously hadn't taken in what Lin had said.
I am not particularly interested in bolus calculators as I eat low carb and work on a simple 1:10 ratio, but then have to factor in protein here and there which is where the Libre is really going to prove most helpful I think.
Since I am currently self funding the system, I doubt that I will get test strips for it prescribed right now, but maybe when I eventually get the sensors prescribed I can enquire about that and use the reader for everything.... but for now I will stick with my prescribed Caresens for BG and Ketones when necessary.

Not saying that I am testing a lot or anything but I have just had to go and put it on charge after less than 24hrs... eek!

How do you know (short of counting) how many tests you have done in a day?.... it only gives me the option of the number of tests in the last 7 days or 14 days and obviously it doesn't look too bad when divided by 7 or 14... ie 5 or 2 Obviously if I multiply 7x5 since I have only had it less than a day, I get 35, but as the days go by it will be more difficult to keep track

I upload to Libre Veiw on Laptop. Does up to 90 days.

Oh... and do I need to download data in order to keep it ie does it only store data for a set length of time?..... Sorry, I should be reading the manual for this stuff shouldn't I! 😳

Is Libre View an app and will I be able to download it to my ancient PC or my (more modern) android? Hopefully my sister can help me with this technical software stuff.

Many thanks. Will look into that.

It remembers 90 days of data. (I'm not sure how much LibreView will store, but it's lots more than 90 days.)

LibreView is a web site, https://www.libreview.com to which you can upload data using a PC or Mac program (downloadable from Abbott) or the official Libre app on Android or iOS. (Presuming your phone is one of those that's supported. In that case you connect the app to your LibreView account and then when you scan with your phone the data gets uploaded automatically.)

Needed to read that quite a few times before it has started to sink in to my tech averse brain, but I think I kind of get the idea. Do Abbott have access to the data you download from your reader or phone and if so, do they use it for anything? I assume this is how consultants and DSNs can access your data, by being allowed access to your account. I can see how that might be really useful, particularly in the current climate of telephone appointments.

Pleased to report I got the half unit insulin dose sorted with the aid of Lin's code thanks, so that is my main niggle (even if it was only a minor one) ironed out!

Yes, they have access, but they say they only use it in limited ways, mostly to support their products (so they will use anonymised information to gauge usage, for example, and might look at your specific data in order to offer customer support to you). There's a privacy notice with the details, https://www.libreview.com/files/documents/en-GB/pat-PP_2020-03-04.html

And yes, it's how at least some diabetes teams can look at your data. (It's how my local group do, and it was a requirement for being on the trial.) If your practice wants that they'll give you a code you enter in the web site (in Account Settings -> My Practices) and then they can look at your data.

(This only applies if you use the LibreView website. It's possible to use the Reader, phone apps, computer programs, without using LibreView. However, you may find your diabetes team wants you to use it. And I find it a good service: the Reader has a really small screen so it's nice to be able to view the graphs on my computer.)

And you can upload data to LibreView without allowing your diabetes team to look at it (allowing them access requires that extra step of entering their code in the options), though I think that would be an odd thing to do. (And not allowed for me, since they require that I allow them access. They also said they're not going to look unless we're discussing something, apart from checking that I'm scanning at least 7 times a day.)

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to clarify that and I would be very happy for my team to access my data even from these self funded sensors, so need to enable that before my telephone apt with consultant.... which means I have 5 months to get my head around it all!!

Well, my first 24hrs is 93% in target with only that hypo this morning blotting my copy book. Absolutely delighted with that!

Now that is VERY impressive. Glad that you are finding it useful.

My clinics uses Diasend where I can download all the data from Libre, Pump and handset. Others use Libreview. It is so much easier when you both have the data in front of you. I have been glad of that on rare occasions when difficulties have arisen dealing with illness. It has been great to be able to email or phone after giving them access to the data. Just check what your clinic use and they will give you a code to enter into the share data bit. If I can sort it you definitely can.

If you want to get into the professional settings where you can set up things like the insulin calculator and correction doses yourself , the code needed is CAA1C , though to use the insulin calculator you have to do a finger prick
Hi @Ljc I've always wondered what the professional thing was for ..... now I know! Do you know if you can get it to work on the phone app also??
