Last year's examination showed a minimal degree of Diabetic Retinopathy.

This year's examination showed no signs of Diabetic Retinopathy.

Which shows that the condition is reversible without any unpleasant laser treatment. And it also shows that I wasn't worried about last years report. It may be genetic - my mother, who was T1 for 40+ years, never developed retinopathy.

This is normal, background changes can come and go. It doesn’t mean all diabetic retinopathy is reversible though, it depends what stage the damage is at.

Glad to hear you’ve had the all clear @mikeyB 🙂

I’ve had a couple of ‘background changes’ with an ‘all clear’ or two in between, and am currently ‘all clear’.

But I agree with @Lucyr - it will depend on the person, and the amount of damage.

Sometimes slowing or halting progression is the best outcome available, I think.
