At least I think it was. I was out to lunch with my wife and some friends and had just finished a nice bowl of soup with some brown bread, and suddenly I went quite hot and sweaty and felt nauseous. I excused myself and went to the loo where I thought I was going to vomit, but after about a minute, I felt ok again, and have been ok since. Was this a type of hypo? I don't know because it has never happened before.

The only way of knowing for sure would have been to test your levels to see what they were. I had feelings similar to that when my levels were coming into the normal range from what my body was used too. But they weren't true hypo's as my levels weren't low enough.

As @Stitch147 says, you would have needed to check with a meter to confirm it, it certainly sounds very unpleasant :(

I understand that it is quite unlikely for Metformin to induce hypoglycaemia, but there again people without diabetes can experience BGs below 4 and feel a bit wobbly as a result.

Hope it doesn’t happen again, but if it does perhaps have a few swigs if fruit juice, couple of sachets of sugar (I have a little tin in my pocket and save them from cafes!), or a boiled sweet or two which should resolve the feelings in a few minutes.

That is interesting Edgar
A couple of weeks ago I got up one morning and sat on the sofa to have my usual coffee.
I suddenlly felt light headed, hot and sweaty and nauseous. Instant panic thought "this is it".
Had my meter on the table infront of me as it was, and did a check. It was only 5.6. After 10 minutes or so the feeling completely passed and I was back to normal. I just didn't understand it and I still don't
I am not taking any Metformin just Perindoril for my BO which is normal these days.
Puzzling.
Going to leave the typo in as it amuses me lol
Should say BP as in Blood Pressure 🙄
Ruddy fat fingers :(

Good to know you are smelling a bit sweeter these days :D

I had a similar episode a few weeks back but that was a couple of hours after I had eaten. I had decided to eat white bread rather than see it going to waste. I was out so couldn't test, and am not on medication. I had a cup of hot chocolate and was fine after

Your disclaimer applies Vince! LOL

Had you been doing something energetic, or alternatively, could either of you had a bit of trapped wind? I don't actually need to know the answer, but I've certainly had it and had those symptoms!

Amused me too...until I realised you had spotted it yourself😎

Had to look up perondoril (which I'd not heard of but there again I've never needed to resort to a doctor for that prob!) to discover that was a typo too, at which point I obviously realised what your BO really was - by which point KM had posted LOL

I love it when typos change the meaning of something entirely and they're amusing!

Without testing it's impossible to know, however the phenomenon of False Hypo's is quite common as the body reacts to a change from the customary BG levels. Looking at your medication there is nothing that would cause a true hypo. Perhaps it was A False Hypo if your average BG levels have been dropping quite fast, or even BP related.

For about 4-5 months after starting to take Glyburide I was having both false & true hypo's, however a lot of this was cause by the medication Glyburide & my quest for a lower carb diet.... Quit Glyburide, problem solved

I didnlt actualy lol That is the sad part hehe. 🙄

Sounds like a Hypo to me Edgar but testing is the only way of knowing for sure.
