and i don't have a spare one :(
i dunno what to do, any ideas?

Ring/email the meter company, they will usually send a free replacement out.
In the meantime you could just use the lancets manually, it took me a bit of time to pluck up the courage the first time I did it but it was actually fine once I'd done it.

What sort of pen is it? If it;s an accuchek multiclix I don't think there's any way of using the lancets without the pen, but some of the other types you might be able to just stab with. Call their customer support tomorrow. Might be worth popping by your doctor's to see if they have some spares you can use - they must have a supply.

While you're arranging a spare finger pricker, I'd suggest you get a spare meter kit, so you can have one at home and one out & about, for example, as well as having ab ack up.

I have a spare, and could pop to tamworth with it:D so if you dont get one sorted today I would be happy to help.

Unfortunately though I am on nights and in need of sleep and will be going to bed soon'ish so it wont be till late afternoon that I am back online.

Few weeks ago ours ran out of battery and the spare one didn't work... aarrgghhh.... I did'nt know what to do but called DSN and she got someone to post one at my house within an hour (luckily I lives near hospital) so I guess call DSN is the best ;-)

thing is, i can't get to the hospital nor can i get a lift off anyone to get there.
i have no money at all, to buy a new one nor to buy a bus ticket, its just so stupid, the fact i was at the hospital tuesday and it decides to break yesterday urgh.
luckily its still sort of working, i also found an old one which i havent tried out yet but will see if that works.
just rawr.
and cheers ypauly, shall bare that in mind ^^

Have you called the meter company? They will certainly send you one post haste and free 🙂

I have just used the lancets manually before. It takes a bit more guts than pressing the button on the finger pricker though, but will see you through until you get a new one.

If you do want my spare "it's free" I'm working in minworth so only 1 motorway junction to tamworth "also free"

Just let me know If you change your mind:D

Off to work soon but will keep an eye on this thread.
