but no one told me how long it would take dvla to sort my license out :(
i thought it would take four weeks at the most but here i am a month later to only find out i have to wait another four weeks :(
my parents have paid ?350 for a party on saturday and i am just hoping that they don't ask me for ID as it is my party :( how ridiculous, sometimes being diabetic ruins everything so annoyed right now :(
hope my 18th will be ok :/

Sorry to hear about the delays Estellaa. I hope you are able to relax and enjoy the party and have a lovely birthday tomorrow 🙂 Hopefully you won't be asked for ID at your own party!

my passport is out of date. :/

It's still got your photo and date of birth, so migth be OK.

aha apart from the fact i think im 11 on the photo, we'll see! what does the medical part of getting a license involve by the way?

Have a great party, enjoy being 18 I remember it well!!!

My dad took me to a local pub for a drink when I turned 18 & the barman went Hi Lynne your usual! That took a little explaining!

I be surprised if you were asked to prove your age at your own party arranged by your parents. I was asked in the supermarket the other day as I was buying a bottle of wine. I'm now 52!!!

aha my mum keeps getting asked she has no ID though and uses me as her ID saying does an 18 year old daughter count as ID lol. shes 37 bless her.

Hope you have a great birthday, it would be pretty mean if they asked you for ID at your own party but there are some jobsworths out there, let's hope there's none where you are 🙂

As for the medical part of the license, did you complete the DIAB1 form when you sent off for your license? If you did then they carry out some "Checks" and if all is well will issue you a license valid for up to 3 years, then you fill the form in again and the process starts over. Took around 10 weeks for me to get mine back when I called them they said they had everything and all was in order but they were about 2 weeks behind with actually issuing licenses.

I believe even someone without diabetes is told it will take around 4 weeks, with Type 1 I believe it's up to 3 months. Sorry!

i haven't had a DIAB1 form yet, gawd i'll be lucky to have it by christmas lol

They are a pain in the bum!

A sore point for me as my licence is away at the moment and I'm still waiting to get it back. I hate that I now have to renew it every 3 years, it winds me up so much they don't check other rubbish/drunk/drug using (prescription or not!) drivers so rigorously!

Anyway, I am nearly 29 and was refused a bottle of wine the other day in Morrisons because my licence IS away, grrr! It's the "challenge 25" thing nowadays and anyone caught selling it (not the retailer, the individual) can face jail 😱

I've decided to take it as a compliment, lol.

I'd take your passport with you anyway just incase.

Have a great birthday!! I'd love to be 18 again.........:D

Happy 18th Birthday Estellaa. Hope you have a lovely day today and a wonderful party on Saturday.

Don't get too drunk..............!!!
