Well wasn't in with the consultant for long, about 10 minutes really, both him and Paul are pleased at how I am doing, nurse said blood pressure seems a bit low (not sure what exactly it was but will check mydiabetesmyway in a few days so will find out then lol), blood taken from arm this time as doing more than hba1c 😱, feels ridiculous being a Type 1 and saying to the nurse I'm not a fan of needles and she did give me a 'look' 🙄, weight is down a little bit from last time :( but hba1c is up, only to 41 so not concerned xx

Good appointment @Kaylz , glad it went well (bar the weight loss - you'll be disappearing before our eyes soon...).🙂
Know what you mean about the needles and blood tests - I have blood tests fortnightly and although I don't mind them, I can't watch at all - nurses think I'm bonkers 🙂🙄
Any news on your other apt and trying to eat more carbs?

😳 I did ask about the psychologist but only realised when you mentioned it that I'd not included it 🙄
No update about an appointment on my files so the consultant is going to send another letter and has given me the number to call up too, he did mention that it was a very underfunded place
Up until I was diagnosed I'd never had blood tests or anything so that's partly my problem! HAHA
Thanks for reading my post and enquiring 🙂 xx

At least it is still in the pipeline and you can now chase directly as well.
I have come to the conclusion re needles etc that for me, it is a totally different kettle of fish if someone else is sticking it in or I am doing it myself :D

It so is I agree with you there! 'normal' folks just don't get it 😉 x

Glad to hear you had a good appointment @Kaylz , that is a lovely HbA1c result.🙂 I hope an appointment comes through soon for you with the psychologist.

I'm with you and Greyhound Gal re blood tests. I don't see why anyone should think I enjoy having a needle put in a vein just because I have to inject insulin . Being diabetic doesn't make me a needle lover!

@Kaylz
Good appointments K and 41 is a good number even if up a little.
I had to chuckle about the "fan of needles" comments.
Ye need mare mince 'nd tatties inside o ye lass.

Thanks Flower, how did your appointment go? I hope there is healing going on! x

Thanks Vince, it needed to come up anyway as for being a Type 1 on insulin it was far too low! x

I'm glad that you had a good appointment Kaylz and that your HBA1C is going up. I hope that you get to see the psychologist soon so that you can get the help you need with your eating so that you start to put weight on. I can cope with a needle being used to take blood out of my arm, and the flu jab, but apart from I am totally needle phobic if it's from someone else. The other week the blood vampire said that because of my poor veins they might have to take the blood out of my foot and I told him that would never happen in a million years - and I meant it. As for dental needles - I just can't do them.

That's good news he is sending another letter, it is taking ages! Good it all went well and hope calling the number means it comes quicker. Great they are pleased with how well you are doing! You just be relieved it is all done for now and you can relax.

Glad to hear it went well, Kaylz.🙂

I’m not a fan of needles either - flu jabs, blood tests, taking my dogs for their annual jabs, ugh......make my stomach turn. Tiny little needles, no probs. There’s a big difference!😛

Sounds like a good appointment, Kaylz. Getting weight up & keeping BG's steady ain't easy. I love needles. I must be weird.:D

Thank you everyone 🙂, I am eating more than I was before just doesn't seem to be helping :(
@Mark Parrott sorry but that does make you weird!! :D x

Perhaps doing a lot of sewing and embroidery when younger helps - sewing needles stuck in you hurt a lot more than jabs whoever does em, and insulin jabs don't hurt most people anyway. It was very odd having to do anti-coag jabs in my tum after my operation - needles are weird with a plastic guard that whizzes out after you inject - so a bit awkward - well no - a LOT awkward really!

I can say I like other jabs or giving blood whether a phial or an armful to the donor service - but all of them are purely a means to an end - keeping me alive, stopping me having thrombosis, preventing flu, diagnosing something or keeping someone else alive - so much like wanting to mix ingredients to make a cake, you can't enjoy eating it if you don't prepare it and cook it - so purely a fact of life! Nobody needs to like needles - they were never invented for enjoyment.

Sounds like a good appointment. I'd say 41 is a pretty good place to be for your HbA1c. Excellent 🙂

Well done Kaylz. All sounding good and going in the right direction.

When I was in hospital recently I had to have a daily jab in abdomen.
It occurred to the nurse that I might prefer to do it myself as I was so used to it.
She wasn’t so impressed when I automatically primed it before jabbing, as she had already done it.
