i am a type 2 and on injections 4 times a day i find this strange any other person on this site type 2 are not got any answers for me dont understand this😱

Hi Carol, we do have other Type 2s on injections. Not sure what you are asking? In my view, although people on insulin can in theory eat whatever they want and 'cover' it with insulin, it really isn't that simple. In order to avoid the dangerous spikes in blood sugar levels caused by fast-acting carbs (like sweets, biscuits and cakes) you have to time the peak of your insulin to coincide with the peak of your food digestion.

This is almost impossible to calculate accurately because there are so many factors to take into account. An injection is never, ever going to mimic the ebb and flow of insulin production from a healthy pancreas. For this reason, and the fear of those spikes and complications, most people I know generally restrict their intake of the sweet stuff to special occasions.
