Oh dear I seem to have gone post happy today!! I have been having a lot of muscle weakness for the past few years and it has become quite debilitating. I have been to the doctors about it many times but they don't seem interested in it. The nurse told me that, if you have lots of hypos it effects your muscles but when I asked my doctor he said he had never heard of that. Has anyone else had the same problem and if so what diagnosis did you get? Did they blame the diabetes for it or was it made worse by it? Thanks for your replies about this xxx

It might also be motor neuropathy, but I think that affects type 2's more.

Hi Lady Willpower, I can't really help you but wanted to say that I have been having similar issues recently. Writing everything down even the minor things and how it is affecting your life before going to the doctors really helped me. They are currently doing lots of tests but the general theory is that I might have ME / CFS. Also wanted to point out that I live in the same place as you!!! What a coincidence.

My GP has decided that my arm is probably tendonitis. The anti inflamitories aren't working so far (9 days in) so I guess we'll see what happens next. XXXXX

Hi Lady Willpower,
sorry I have no idea what basal insulin you use, but there are a lot of threads regarding muscle problems from using Lantus on other forums.
Another thought is, do you take statins as this is a known side affect as well.

?physiotherapy approach?

Lady Willpower - a bit of a lateral approach, but could you ask your GP to refer you to community physiotherapy services, as a physio is probably the health professional best able to assess a muscle weakness problem.
