Hi. My son is 26 and he has been type 1 for 12 years. He is very thin and struggles to put on weight. He has seen dietitians on and off throughout this time. He has multiple complications from his diabetes. I feel he could benefit from a multivitamin or a dietary supplement. Is there anything you would recommend that us better suited to diabetics. Thank you in advance x

Hi @kaye watson

I take Seven Seas Multibionta Vitality tablets. Let me find a link for you:

They have a very good range of both vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc and magnesium.

For general putting on weight, I increase my carbs and aim for healthy fats like those in oily fish, avocados, etc I also make sure I don’t miss meals or snacks, and that I keep my blood sugar in range as much as possible as high sugars will cause weight loss.

You don’t mention what complications your son has but if he’s on any additional meds, it’s always sensible to OK things with his team.

Your son might also like an app like My Fitness Pal where he can enter his foods and get daily totals of protein, carbs, etc, and also an amount of calories to aim for each day to help him put on weight.

Hello @kaye watson why are you concerned about your sons weight
and can you advise us of the complications he has with Diabetes?
This is only if you wish to.
