Mounjaro

Hi.

Are you talking about getting it prescribed on the NHS or private prescription for weight loss? If the latter you may encounter problems finding someone prepared to prescribe it privately because of the risk of complications due to your other diabetes meds and possible interactions.
Do you have a sympathetic GP or diabetes nurse as they would be the people to discuss it with?

We have members of the forum who have been prescribed it on the NHS with a view to helping them reduce their other diabetes meds and improve their diabetes management. as well as help them lose weight.

I mean to buy privately. I don't have a diabetes nurse because I'm type 2. I started an online form but stopped halfway through because I didn't know to answer. Screenshot_20250722_174926_Samsung Internet.jpg

Hi, I'm T2 but have a diabetic nurse, i thought all diabetics should have access to one.
I take Metformin and inject insulin and I've been on Mounjaro fir 6 mths

@Hightonel Like NicF I too have a diabetes nurses at my local practice and both are open to doing calls as well as face to face meetings if I need them.
Might worth giving your GP Practice a call to see if they can link you with the right person.

I ask for everything, including this. Never get anything! I've been offered Metformin recently which I've not taken yet, but can't get under double figures so might have to. Who am I kidding? I can't be bothered, taking me all my time to koko. Which three medications are you on? That seems a lot.

Do you take anything for your diabetes other than metformin and insulin? If you do then answer yes.

Metformin. Sitagliptin and Empagliflozin
Sitagliptin and empagliflozin are medications that are not metformin or insulin then. So tick yes.

@Hightonel Who supports you with your diabetes management and does your annual diabetes review? Is it a GP or a practice nurse at your GP practice? Usually if it is a practice nurse they will have had some training in diabetes management and are referred to as a diabetes nurse. This is not the same as the Diabetes Specialist Nurses (DSN) who are hospital clinic based but sometimes attend GP practices once a month to support and train the diabetes practice nurse. Some GP practices don't even have this though and it is just a GP who manages the Type 2s in their area unless they are on insulin and then they may be referred to the hospital clinic.
