Hello
I’ve been in mounjaro 8 months . It has been working fabulously making my insulin injections down to under 10 units from 40 units and some days no insulin needed . Sadly I’ve got used to the 5mg dose and was put on the 7.5 dose which is only to get your body used to the next full dose of 10mg . Unfortunately I can not get the 10mg prescribed . I’ve been to my diabetic nurse and my james cook hospital diabetic department where I have a consultant . But both keep saying the other can prescribe for me . It’s been 4 months now . Has anyone had a similar experience ? I’m thinking of putting a complaint in
Thanks

Sorry to hear about your difficulties in getting a revised dose of a medication you have found so helpful @Lou60 :(

Mounjaro is one of the medications that has been used to cover the shortages of Ozempic, which in turn may have caused occasional brief shortages in varying dose sizes.

It has also been involved in a recent unfortunate case - so it may be that your Dr and nurse are being a little cautious on your behalf.

O dear @Lou60
not good to hear that the dosage of Mounjaro require isn’t now going to be available, it might be worth talking to your HCT about the possibility of any alternative
I was earlier this year on a different but similar medication to Mounjaro back earlier in the year I was taking Trulicity (which is a Dulaglutide) when shortages ment that wasn’t available, like you Mounjaro has helped me massively I’m just moving up to the 7.5mg dose now, having been on the 5mg dose for the last 3 months, and my GP is planning then if needed to increase from 7.5 to 10 mg (if needed)

Dear Goodybags
Thanks very much for your reply .. I finally have 10mg of mounjaro … it’s took me 3/4 months to get it after I’d mentioned to my Gp that I’d been advised to complain . Within 10 mins my Gp had made an immediate appointment with my diabetic nurse … she told me what a coincidence that she’d just received an email stating that she could give my the 20mg dose !!!!
My diabetic nurse isn’t very good at giving treatments out … I’ve always struggled .

I’ve finally received the 10mg ☺️ just a shame I had to put so much effort into receiving it . They is no shortage of mounjaro yet ! It was just my diabetic nurse saying Consultant had to authorise it … but consultant saying I had to have my diabetic nurse authorise it ! So I was backwards and forwards for months without my increase in dose …. Now mounjaro is being prescribed privately by my consultant for weight loss … again I feel frustrated that my diabetic drugs are not available as they should be while private patients are getting priority

Glad you've managed to get hold of some now @Lou60

Hope the revised dose works well for you.

glad to hear you’ve now got your 10Mg dose @Lou60
I’ve taken my first 7.5 dose today, my GP when we spoke about this recently and he said after a month on 7.5, we will review it again to see if the dose will need to increase to 10Mg and then possibly up to 15.

like you I’ve cut my insulin, tonight will drop that from 8 down to 7 or 6 now my MJ dose has increased
then see see how my levels are through the night

That’s great you’ve got the 7.5 it worked well for a month then I was ready for the 10mg …mounjaro is so good at letting you drop the insulin and almost feeling that your not a diabetic ☺️ When I was on the 5 mg for first months was only having to take 4 units of insulin before evening meal … when I was on 30 a day and night time 10 lantus .

I had weight to loose also so obviously MJ has helped with that also,

Yes I had weight to lose too as 6 months without victoza put a stone on me ! Insulin makes me put weight on so easy … so Mounjaro best as hardly need any insulin … you know before your messages it’s listing your meds and some history … how to you make that come on there ?
