I am taking the above combination for type 2, but I am not loosing weight, the Mounjaro has brought my HB1C down but is not reducing my appetite as it should, has anyone else had this problem

Hi @Pauline on seeing your post thought I would ask you
how long have you been taking Mounjaro, also what kind of foods are you eating

I have been taking Mounjaro since November, but it is very slow going, as glicazide increases appetite and can cause weight gain I was wondering if they are cancelling each other out.

are you still on the starting dose of Mounjaro
or was it increased also what kind of diet are you on ?

quite a few years ago I was on Glicazide myself I remember one of the HCP thinking it wouldn’t at the time be beneficial as was needing to loose weight at the time that’s when I stopped taking Glicazide and another medication was introduced

for me Mounjarno has helped greatly over the last 12 month

Hi, I am on 5mg of Mounjaro, eating a mixed diet my HB1C has come down from 80 to 50, so it’s is working, but have stalled with weight loss, from November slowly lost about 1stone but recently plateaued. I have been thinking the Glicazide may be the problem.

Also on Mounjaro, I found I plateaued after a few months on 5mg, so asked to move onto 7.5mg, that said my weight loss is still slow compared to some others, I have lost 1st 9lbs since earlier October, and now average 2lbs per month. I would suggest speaking to your nurse about upping the dose.

Well done on the reduction of your HbA1c which for me is the more important thing I look at even if the weight loss is slower than expected.

Thank you for your reply it is very helpful to know I am not on my own. I have asked to increase the dose but been told they are not aloud to prescribe more than 5mg as it would fall into weight management and they are not aloud to prescribe for weight management. I am waiting for an operation and they won’t do it unless I loose another stone in six months.

Sorry to hear they won’t increase your dose, my DN was happy to increase for weight loss. I did ask to go to 10mg at my last appointment and she refused because as far as NHS guidelines show, I am now only 5lb over weight, and me wanting to get below that weight isn’t a reason to increase. But if you still need to lose 1stone for an op, you have a medical reason to continue with the weight loss.

I am pushing for an increase but so far with no luck, thank you for your comments it has made me feel better about myself, a lot of people just think you are not trying and that isn’t the case at all.
