Mounjaro confusion

I am not asking for advice just clarification.

I did 2 weeks on 12.5mg but didn't like how I felt so decided before I went away to request 10mg on repeat only to discover it hadn't gone. Surgery advised coming down and asking for a paper request which I did. Fast forward to Tuesday 8th April asked when I attended for my hb1ac blood test to discover it had been lost so had to request it again!

I didn't pick up the 10mg pen until Thursday 10th however decided to carry on with the 12.5mg mainly to avoid wasting it even though get on NHS for my T2D. My question is if I injected Friday can I inject the final dose of 12.5mg on my preferred day Monday which is 72hours unless I am wrong

Are you able to be a bit clearer with your question? What day is your next injection scheduled for according to the medical directions? What day would you like to take it instead?
 
I normally inject Monday and 3rd dose of 12.5mg would have been due 7th April however I had decided to drop down to 10mg and planned to take first dose of 10mg pen on 8th April (as I was travelling home from being away on 7th) unfortunately didnt get it until 10th.

In the meantime I had decided to persevere with the 12.5mg. I took this Friday before bed. What I'm asking is it 3 days from Friday to Sunday and therefore OK to inject Monday or do I have to wait until 10.26pm tomorrow ie 72 hours to take the 3rd dose on my preferred day ie Monday?

Sorry you’re still quite confusing. Friday to Sunday is 2 days - Saturday then Sunday.

Friday to Monday is 3 days. Saturday Sunday Monday.

Isn’t mounjaro taken once a week though? Why are we counting 2 or 3 days? If you took it on Friday then it’s due next Friday isn’t it?

If say I forgot to take my dose Monday I would have to wait until Thursday yes? so if I usually took my injection Friday but forgot I would have to wait until Monday ie 3 days yes?

So if I injected Friday but wanted to change to Monday for the next dose I wait until Monday. Not sure why it is confusing.

No, you’d take it as soon as you remembered. You wouldn’t wait 3 days.

Read the leaflet again. It will say if you forget a dose you take it within 3 days as soon as you remembered. If you forget it and you don’t remember until more than 3 days later then you skip it.

If you took it on Friday (a couple of days ago) do not take it on Monday (tomorrow). You will feel ill if you do.

If it’s due once a week then it’s due next Friday. If you want to get it back to Monday you could take it a day late the next couple of weeks to slowly move it back to Mondays.

How is Friday a couple of days ago? Friday is 1 day, Saturday is 1 day and Sunday is 1 day so 3 days. I am not waiting until Friday, Tuesdayat earliest. I was under the impression that as long as there was a gap of 3 days it was OK. That's what people in a Mounjaro Facebook group I belong to have said.

I was also advised that leaving a break of 7 days was OK too which is what I originally planned, 2 weeks is I believe the maximum time you can go without injecting before you have to go back to 2.5mg unless I am wrong.

My 2nd dose week ended Sunday 6th April and as I didn't have the 10mg to hand I had originally intended to wait until Monday 14th to inject, be it the 12.5mg or the 10mg.

It looks like mounjaro has a half life of 5 days. Taking it weekly gives cover so you have some in your system all the time and if you stop taking it it can stay in your system for a couple of weeks. So taking two doses 3 days apart would give you a much bigger combined dose than you want especially as you’re experiencing unwanted side effects at the higher dose. As has been said the safer way to get back to your preferred Monday dose day is to take it every 8 days for the next few weeks.

If you’re not going to take the medication as prescribed then I don’t know why you’re bothering to ask for advice.

You’re getting too many side effects taking 12.5mg once a week. You’re determined to take it on Monday when it’s not due till Friday. I’ve explained that’s not how it’s supposed to be taken. I’ve explained it will make you feel ill, given once a week makes you feel ill and you’ll be taking two doses within a week so twice as much.

If you want to take it tomorrow then that’s your choice. If it makes you ill don’t come back saying we should have warned you though.

Didn't ask for advice asked for clarification not the same thing. I am assuming that if I waited a week it would be wrong too even though many in the group on Facebook miss a week or longer.

If a dose is missed then you can take it within 4 days so if you miss the next Friday dose taking it on the Monday following is within the norm. Any more than 4 days after the dose is missed and you’re supposed to wait until the next dose is due but I don’t know at what strength that dose should be. There’s usually information on the patient info sheet with medications that say what to do if you miss a dose or are late taking it.

Maybe I will wait until Friday then but not happy about it. Monday is my preferred day as any side effects have worn off by the weekend

I am still confused but my interpretation is if you normally take on Mon but forget you can take on tues, wed or thurs and take your next dose on Mon but if you still haven't taken then just take your next dose on Mon as usual otherwise your doses will be too close together and you are more likely to get side effects.
