Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
What if I told you that you could completely change your life in just 3 months? Would you believe me?

If you have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes like I was in November 2024, you are probably feeling at your lowest. You may be the heaviest you’ve ever been. You may be feeling tired, sickly and weak. You may be scared and confused. You may avoid looking in mirrors and dread leaving the house because wherever you go, you’re the fattest person there. You may feel ashamed that you allowed yourself to get diabetes. You may be angry at yourself and the world. I was all of these things and more.

But it doesn’t have to continue this way. You have the power to turn things around. You can change it all. You just have to believe in yourself and commit to consistent healthy living practices. Eating well. Moving more. Sleeping more. Taking your medications. Learn. Adapt. Transform.

It’s tough to change your life. But sometimes it’s even tougher to stay the same. Pick your tough. Be your own best friend and focus on your health and wellness for 3 just months and see what is possible. You can do anything for 3 months.

I am a work in progress. My diabetes remission journey is still in its infancy. I have a long way to go. But, in just three months I have convinced myself that although my health goals are big, they are possible. Why? Because I am capable of anything that I put my mind to achieving.

I am wiser than I thought.
I am stronger than I thought.
I am capable.
I am worthy.
I trust myself.
I am enough.

I have reformed my diet to one that fuels and nourishes me rather than one that simply comforts me.
I am working towards a fitter body and already feel stronger than I have in years.
I am taking rest and seriously as working out.
I am committed to continued learning about my health.
I am committed to trusting the process and having the patience to see it through.

Real change is slow. You cannot fix diabetes overnight. But if you can commit to three solid months of treating yourself right, I promise you will see the art of the possible and that if you truly want change, it is within your power to make it happen.

@Katetype2 I have been following your journey and like others have said you are amazing and inspiring!

I too was diagnosed in November 2024 with HbA1C of 129 and having that wake up call and make lifestyle changes, 4 months later and just got retest result today and 41!! Still waiting on other results however HbA1C was one that had me most nervous given I started with triple figures.

Your post relates to what I was feeling too after just eating and not moving to taking control you right you can make progress regardless of how daunting and overwhelming it is when first diagnosed just got to keep going! 🙂

Wow! What a fantastic result! Congratulations!
Thank you for your kind words. I just come on here and ramble away - it always surprises me when anyone actually reads it haha.
I think it’s important for those who are brand new to see that there is hope, as it can be such a scary time when first diagnosed. Seeing that it’s something you can have an impact on is so important psychologically.

Hi @Katetype2, I am not overweight, am an insulin dependent type 3c, and sometimes feeling my age (76)! I enjoy reading your Mounjaro Monday posts along with this motivational post and your pinned excellent treatise to all T2s; I don't quite know why! But it's great reading about your progress and your open sharing about something which is private and potentially embarrassing. Thank you, well done.

@Katetype2 I just think your posts and positivity are inspirational and even though I face different challenges with my Type 1 diabetes, it is still motivating and uplifting to read your posts. You are a star!
