I am 66 and have Type 2 but my HBa1c is at 43.
A couple of times in the past 6 months I have woken in the morning feeling dizzy and nauseous. This continues until I throw up whether I have eaten anything or not. It’s the weirdest feeling. Does anyone else experience this.
Not sure if it’s diabetic related or my age

Knowing nowt at all about you, for what reason do you think it could be either? I've had diabetes well over 50 years and am a fair bit older than you, but I've never experienced this. I do get syncope when I'm too hot and also dehydrated so have to make efforts not to do either. Or it could be blood pressure related, thought that doesn't usually make people vomit.

Have you ruled out it could be something you ate the previous evening, that doesn't agree with you?

If this occurs regularly @Dizzydools I'd suggest going to see your GP. It's not a symptom I'm aware of as a 65 year old type 2. Also, your Hba1c is only just into the pre-diabetic zone so I'd be surprised if your blood glucose is playing up.

Is it just short lived and then you are fine, could it be migraine or ear problem which can affect your balance and make you feel dizzy.
Is your blood pressure OK.

@Dizzydools If you have been on a Strick diet and have lost a good amount of weight it could as others have said, blood pressure.
I have been feeling dizzy in the night if I get up for the loo and sometimes during the day. I have lost nearly 1 1/2 stone and my blood pressure has come down from an average of 130/60 to 115/56 which is low for me. Never felt like throwing, but it could just be BP

Welcome to the forum @Dizzydools

Sorry to hear about your nausea. It does sound unusual, and isn’t something I’ve heard others reporting similar symptoms.

Do you take any medications to help with your glucose management? Some T2 meds can give rise to stomach upset or nausea in some people?

Sounds like something you should chat through with your GP?

I have this from two causes; medication reactions and inner ear issues. The medications were Diltiazem (a Calcium Channel Inhibitor used for BP and/or angina) and Co-trimoxazole (that is now on my never prescribe again list). In each case though the issue occurred at other times of day as well but followed no pattern. The inner ear issues were Labyrinthitis and BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Bipolar Vertigo). It sounds a s if it could be the former. You really need to speak to your GP. When I had BPPV I spent 3 nights in hospital and had a head MRI to rule out other issues.

As others have said elevated BP can also be a cause.
