Having High Blood Pressure, I always thought I was doing the right thing by using Low Salt and not using much salt at all...But I received a phone call from my Dr saying sh needed to see me, apparently my Sodium is low...This was from a recent Blood test, my Liver function is also still on the high side!

I am unsure what Low Sodium in the body means?...But it seems that all is against me and my time is running out! Something else to be scared about!

Does anyone else know of this issue at all please help if you can becuase I am so worried and tommorow seems a long time away to see the Dr!

Thank you...Ellowyne xXx

Hi Ellowyne, I used to use lo salt too, but found that it is higher in potassium which may be what your GP wants to discuss with you. Are you on statins by any chance?

Thank you Northerner...No, I am not on Statins, they won't put me on them because of the Gall bladder infections...I am on 'Indapamide' for my Blood pressure though, she says she may change these?

Thank you for replying.

I hope that things go well tomorrow and that you get some good advice, try not to worry (easy to say, I know). Let us know how things go, I will be thinking about you 🙂

Hope things go well for you tomorrow 🙂

low sodium ... its another sort of HYPO !

A Hypo but not as you know it....

Hyponatremia.

Its not great if your blood sodium level is very low.

It tends to take time so you will be fine - just avoid drinking excessive amounts of fluid until you get to your GP

BTW how low did you manage to get you sodium intake. ( For a couple of months I went low sodium and had great difficulty getting below 1.5 - 2 gm per day )

Hi Ellowyne

As suggested, your sodium is probably outside the normal limits but not dangerously low or they would presumably have been more urgent.

They test for so many things now that most people have something that is not ideal. Hence the wide use of statins and blood pressure tablets.

So try to see it as a tweak rather than something life threatening unless you get told otherwise tomorrow. But I'm sure she would have given you specific instructions if was as bad as Bolddog suggested.

Might be another tablet to take though.🙄

Good luck with your appointment today.

your Dr may want to look at your diet and suggest changes. It may be a simple change is all that is needed. It is very easy when we are anxious to see even a small thing as really bad. I think that when you see your Dr you should bring up your anxieties particular about feeling you have not long life - it might get him/her to fight harder for you to get some more counselling.
