There seems to be a wealth of evidence on the net that they can Steve and long term difficulty in controlling BG's contributes to depression. Many partners describe this about their OH being bad tempered when levels are off.

Are you experiencing mood swings yourself when your BG's spike?

yep but recently while at hospital my levels were touching 16 i have of course booked to see my gp

Hope your doc can sort things for you Steve. Always hard to keep our levels right when we have illness and infections.

My wife told me that my mood changed completely when I got my blood sugars under control. Personally, I didn't think I was moody at all.:D

Well it certainly has an impact on my mood, I become very giddy when my blood sugar is dropping, but if it's higher then I'm very flat, anything into the teens and beyond and I become very angry, and on one occasion aggressive (verbally, I'm a lover not a fighter!). It was my moods that people noticed before diagnosis. I'm generally very very level, so swinging between giddiness and mild snarkiness was a red flag.

have you been diagnosed with diabetes, or are you wondering if you're diabetic?

Exceptionally stubborn when I'm low and grumpy when high.

(Never been aggressive with BG - but with PMT I most certainly was ....... forever having to ring people back the next day at work to apologise ......)
