MikeyBikey - The Road Back

So pleased that your nursing staff are being more reasonable about your diabetes management and allowing you some autonomy. Well done with the physio. It will take time but you are clearly making good progress. Hope you are feeling more hopeful and less frustrated.

I had my first shower in a long time this morning. I feel so clean as rather than a wipe with a disposable pre-soaped flannel it was possible to rinse and soap again (I wonder how much dead skin washed away). The HCA described my hair as absolutely filthy - it required a few goes!

Regards (s clean) MikeyBikey
I know just how you feel Mikey. Currently in hospital myself and have washed for the first time today (though not hair)

Two of the ambulance crew (I don't know if they were collecting or delivering) heard from other crew I was here. They said they were all worried after the ones that took me home (when I had that premature discharge and was back in A&E 15 hours later) said I looked absolutely awful!
Apparently they cannot comment unless the patient becomes iller in their care. Quite a few of the crews know more about diabetes than some of the nurses I encountered?

Mikey - everything about you sounds so much better than just a few days ago. Long may that continue.

Just caught up your posts today Mikey and so glad to hear that some things are improving. It must feel so much better being clean and more comfortable again. Do you have access to dry shampoo? It can help mop up any excess oil on the scalp between regular shampoos. Hopefully the physio will help you regain some more strength and flexibility. It's good to hear you have more input about your diabetes management too.
Hoping your recovery continues in a positive way and you can celebrate more little victories.

Cant help but feel positive for you......sounds as though they (whoever they are) are finally listening to you!!!! I do hope it continues as it's onwards and upwards. Why do they not realise that a shower and hair wash, abulitions, can make one feel sooooo much better. Better is positive and that's nothing short of good. Keep jumping up and down....
