Hi all, hope you are keeping well. I'm looking for some advice with regards to the MiaoMiao & MiaoMiao2. Someone has given me a loan of the Bluecon Nightrider and its been great getting my reading to my phone every 5 mins. However I am having some issues with connectivity and it seems to disconnect once an alarm has been set off and i keep having to reset it with the pin. So I am looking into the MiaoMiao and peoples experiences of this. I use the Freestyle Libre1 and smartphone at present. Would I be best going for the MM1 or 2? Also what smartwatches would be good to pair along with this tech, as thinking of investing in one?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have Miaomiao2. I chose this over miaomiao 1 because it has a smaller profile. However, it achieves this with a smaller battery which does not last as long (usually up to 10 days): I need to charge my miaomiao whilst it is attached to my sensor.
I have been lucky that I have had no problems with my MM as their customer service is not great. If you decide to buy, I hear it is better to buy from their .eu website. This may be slightly more expensive than their .cool (Chinese) site but the customer service seems to be better.

Another option is a Bubble.

I have no experience with smart watches.

I have the MiaoMiao2 using the xDrip+ app paired with my Fitbit Versa 2 and it works really well for me. If your phone is on Android you can use xDrip+ or Tomato to use it with watches that use WearOS, so most Android smartwatches. If you use Apple then the Tomato app also allows you to pair with Apple watches. If you opt for a Fitbit there is a dedicated watchface called Glance that is super easy to set up (took me less than 5 mins). There's also a setup guide here for setting up xDrip+ with various smartwatches: https://github.com/jamorham/xDrip-plus/blob/master/Documentation/WatchGuide.md

I haven't tried the MM1 so I can't compare it with the MM2 but I will say the MM2 has been flawless for me personally. I have no syncing issues at all and although it needs charging semi-regularly I find it charges super quickly. Like @helli said above though, I have heard that their customer service can be a bit sketchy so bear that in mind.

The Versa 2 is my first smartwatch so again I don't have any comparisons for you but I've found it's an excellent motivator for me to stay active and keep healthy.

Hope you find a combination of tech that works well for you @Lizzy78

Diabetes tech can really drive you crackers when it won’t work reliably, or live up to the promises and hope we have for it.

If you are on FB there’s a big and lively group called ‘Libre Geeks’ which may be able to give you some more pointers of which elements work well together.

Don't be surprised if @Lizzy78 doesn't reply soon, last time she signed in to the forum was at the end of April this year. You may do better starting a new thread with your question - I can't help as I've never used such things.

Thanks for the mention, @Inka .

@mhilton3 , I stopped using my Miaomiao 2 when I migrated to Libre 2 as it is not needed.
I would definitely NOT be buying one now, especially as the Libre 2 is the same price as Libre 1.

With Libre 1, Miaomiao 2 and an Android phone (I used it with an Honor 10 and a Pixel 5), it was great with xDrip+. I have no experience of using it with a Smartwatch but I think you will still need a phone.
There is a facebook group dedicated to xDrip which has loads of documents and a very helpful team of contributors - they may get a tad frustrated if you have not read the docs.
Bear in mind xDrip is an app developed by software developers in their own time for people that speak their language. If you know little about github, are nervous about downloading apps from anywhere apart from the PlayStore and are not confident patching official apps, it is unlikely to be the tool for you.

The biggest downside was the battery life of the Miaomiao 2 which was always less than the life of the sensor and towards the end of its life it was less than 3 days. Hence my delight when I could bin it.

Many thanks for your reply. It's appreciated. Regards Mike Hilton
