hello and welcome to the forum.

many of us have had gastric problems with metformin and some still do. You do get over the worst of them in time although some still have effects. I find if I have too many carbs my tummy is out for a couple of days but if I reduce my carbs things settle down.

I hope you feel better soon

Welcome to the forum, Susannah.

Hope the telephon consultation hopes. There are lots of oral medications (tablets) for treating type 2 diabetes, although metformin is vitually always the first one tried. Plus other injectable medications, and insulin - but not everyone needs them, event after many years of type 2 diabetes.
