Metformin Mistake?...

been so busy in the house recently... forgot to take my morning dose of Metformin...usually take one 500mgs twice daily...one morning...one evening...despite that mistake...BG levels remained consistent...all in the 5's...decided to continue with just one tablet in the evening...after five days...BG still good...discussed this with my GP on Friday...agreed to continue with the lower dose...so it's official...just one dose daily from now on...although have left my repeat prescription open...so if it does 'backfire' on me...can revert back to the higher dose without too much difficulty...thankfully testing regularly...so will spot any rise in BG's...and can deal with it asap...crossing my fingers here...watch this space!

Hope so Rosie...initially wanted off the meds asap...then decided needed to take my time...do it at my own pace...been almost a year now...hadn't quite got the courage to do it at my last review...although it was discussed...yep...good description...a happy mistake...lets see how it goes...enjoy your weekend...thanks.

No reason why if you keep up the good work you might have the chance to forget the other dose. Fingers crossed

Hi. Metformin never does much anyway and double the dose doesn't mean double the effect so if you can control the blood sugar on a lower level then stay at that level.

Forgetful or not Bubbsie pleased you're seeing positive results after stopping the Metfartin - hoping your bgls continue to remain in the safe zone. x

Don't like to pour cold water, but Metformin takes time to build up an effect (usually about 2-3 weeks) and it similarly takes time to wear off, so do not be surprised if your BG rises. This is also why it doesn't really matter if you forget one set of pills.

I've taken all of that into account Vic...that's why my prescription for the higher dose is left open...I should know in about another seven days if it is likely to go up again...thank you.
