Metformin & Covid

I was watching earlier one of Zoe's videos on You tube and Tim Spectre mentioned something about metformin they think it may help prevent getting covid or severe symptoms. I wonder if anyone else has heard, viewed or read anything on this?

I have been on metformin since diagnosis of type II, I have not had covid. I wonder if others on Metformin have avoided getting covid?

I am usually careful through the winter months, I do tend to isolate mostly and I do wear a mask if I go to a shop or supermarket at this time of year.

I have just done a websearch on words "metformin and covid" and it seems there are a few papers about this. So I am wondering if metformin has helped me in that way and if so hopefully will continue to do so.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had Covid. Had all the many vaccines, been on metformin for 16 years.

I've never had covid but only been on metformin since September. I have always had the vaccinations last one this month. I didn't mix a lot when it all first started as live on my own and my sister has health problems. We did our Spanish class on zoom. However I don't now wear a mask and am mixing much more. As I don't expect to drop metformin in the near future it's a bonus if it is protective. I've managed to give my seven week cold to my sister but would hate to give her covid.

I'm on metformin and have had covid twice, neither times was it bad, just felt like I had a bit of a cold. Have also had all my jabs and boosters. The only way I knew I had covid was through testing, as I have a couple of immuno-suppressed friends so I always test before seeing them. Maybe I have the metformin to thank for my lack of symptoms!

I don't take Metformin anymore (not for 5 years) and my Covid infection last year was just like a cold but I was fully vaccinated. My partner got it in March this year and was laid up for the best part of a week, mostly in bed. He had stopped getting the vaccines the year before, so only himself to blame! I would add that he is tough as bootnails and I have never ever seen him not go to work, let alone go back to bed after getting up for breakfast and then stay there most of the day, for days on end. He must have been feeling really rough. Hasn't had his vaccine again this year though, so will get little sympathy from me if he gets it again. His retort was that lightning doesn't strike twice!! Somehow, I think the chances of getting Covid again are significantly higher that being hit by a lightening bolt!
I am off for my Covid and Flu jabs tomorrow. Still trying to decide if I am going to have one in each arm or both in the same arm. It is Libre change over day so I might have both in the arm that the old sensor is on.
