Hi Royston, do you have the patcient information leafelt that came with the met? if so that will tell you infact im reading from it now and under useful tips as well as it saying if you smoke try to stop it also states drink as little hospital as possible but if you are a drinker id say just be careful and drink in moderation.
p.s i also found the line you should avoid drinking alcohol and using alcohol containing medicines as this will increase risk of lactic acitosis

I'm not aware of any issues with that. I had the odd pint or two when on metformin without any ill effects.
It's always worth giving the patient information leaflet a check though.

I have a couple of glasses of wine with my dinner on a Saturday or the odd glass of amarula or baileys and am still here to testify.
Mostly when I drink it is with food, but if it is an unknown thing to you, test and keep an eye on things. I'm told I drink so little as almost not to be a drinker atall.
