Just had a phone call from the local diabetic centre. They are looking for people to take part in a study. All it involves is allowing them to download your meter data. Though in some parts of the country a new meter will be provided for this purpose. The criteria for selection is injecting 4 times a day and testing 3. I don't fulfill those criteria but there you are. They are essentially comparing meters.

If anyone takes part it would be interesting to see if you feel its of any benefit.

If it means improvements, then good luck. I hope there are plenty of people who can take up the offer and go for it.

Are you limited to 3 tests a day? That would rule me out!

As would only 4 injections, some days 🙄

I would imagine the 3 test per day would rule most people out. I inject 5 a day and test up to 8 or 9 times on a bad day.

Otherwise I'd be up for it.

Check that it isn't a MINIMUM of three times per day...

I was gonna say that, I reckon it's 'at least' cos they want to make sure they are getting lots of results and lots of adjustments in the form of jabs to get their teeth into and not just the occasional ones of each.

Have you got any contact details for them Margie ?🙂

Good luck to anyone who participates in this study.

It was definitely 3 as I was discounted as testing too much for the study. Unless the nurse who called me had misread the spec.

What appears to be happening is that the clinics are looking for people who may be suitable from their records, then calling and asking if you wish to participate and to check whether you meet the requirements.

It would have been interesting to see the full spec, the nurse I spoke to was disappointed that they hadn't been selected for the new meters.

I hope they don't find any participants. If they do, they need to join the forum so they can be educated about sufficient testing ! 🙄

Maybe it's a way of finding out if T1s can survive on fewer test strips. Oops. Cynical. 😉

I did this recently at my local hospital, they were testing the optium exeed. How they mamanged to get so much blood out my finger without it hurting is still a mystery.

Incidently I have just changed meters from the exeed to the freestyle freedom light and though I didnt ask to change (I just wanted a new finger pricker) the GP gave me the whole box. And I am very impressed specially at how little blood I need for a reading.:D
