Hi

Just wondering if anyone else on here is having problems, (How should I put it I know plain and simple) Keeping stiffy during sex.

Cant think of any other way of putting it. I have no problems getting one but keeping it is another matter.

I have been a type 2 for three years and I must admit my control is not that good.

I take the usual medication
Metformin
Gliclazide
Slimvastatin
Lisinapril
Citrtalopram

I don't think I am the only one I have been a prescription for tadalafil to help but it does not help really.

I know I might have become an issue now and this is also not helping.

And my wife is not really helping either she is trying but it hard.

Anyone else having issues

I'm sorry to hear this wakman. I know that it can be a complication of diabetes due to nerve and vascular damage, but is it perhaps listed on any of your medications as a possible side-effect? I wonder if the Sexual Advice Association might be able to advise?

Thanks North that's a good start I was thinking of going back the docs but not sure what they can do out of ideas really.

Although I am female I can tell you that I noticed that you on Citrtalopram which is an SSRI. These kind of drugs can effect this type of thing

Some side effects of Citalopram can also be bothersome thus affecting the performance of your daily activities. These include stomach pain, shakiness, excitement, nervousness, muscle or joint pain, increased sweating, changes in sex drive or sexual ability, and loss of appetite. These shall be reported to your doctor so that appropriate actions will be done to minimize its occurrence.

Thanks Astbury

I did read something about the side effects of this some time ago.

There a re other drugs which can help to maintain an erection. As others have said, problems with erections can be side effects of some drugs, so worth discussing with GP or whoever prescribed all your medications.

As well as drugs to treat erections, there are other techniques eg pumps, implants etc - again, talk to your GP for referral to appropriate doctors / specialist nurses.

I cannot really add to the advice already given. However if your control is still none to good it is probably worth the effort to reduce your BGs and HbA1c. Whatever you do do not buy any drugs off the internet. I recently read an article on this and some can make you very unwell or worse.

Hah! - anti-depressant type drugs affect women in exactly the same way, get really really interested as per normal and even get to the threshold of the point of no return - then Pfft! Gone.

Eventually you get hacked off with 'travelling hopefully' on the basis you just know you are never going to 'arrive'.

Still you know, for the person who hasn't got this little prob - there are still many ways of killing a cat, and I suggest you, errr, hone your skills in those areas whilst you're 'waiting'.

You can have a lot of fun .....

I too, have occasionally, 'travelled hopefully' and found that an unplanned adventure usually leads to getting 'lost', however, if there has been some more fore thought and preparation, I usually arrive at the destination successfully.
Sometimes spontaneity is not the great thing it used to be! :D

😱
Hi

Just wondering if anyone else on here is having problems, (How should I put it I know plain and simple) Keeping stiffy during sex.

Polite suggestion; use, maintaining tumescence, means exactly the same thing and usually does not invite awkward questions or laughter from 10-11 year olds. I speak, I mean type, from experience. 😱

Has anyone else seen the advert with the GP up a tree talking to the bloke with 'the prob' ?

I am unable to judge whether it's pitched right or not.

Anyone care to comment?

(And as an aside, deep sigh, if only 'things' could be done for ladies with a similar (sort of but not quite the same anatomically) problem .....)

Nope. Was the GP branching out?
