Medtrum Nano Pump

I’m currently using the Omnipod5 pump which is doing great job keeping me balanced, however in the recent weeks I’m suffering from painful allergies and the team in the clinic advice pedal me to return to pens or tubes pump, both solutions that I can’t think of using them again after using them so long.
The team do not support the Medtrum Nano Pump (another patch pump) saying they had poor patient outcomes, mainly cannulas kinking and pump failures in the past.

Does anyone has some experience with Medtrum Nano Pump with TouchCare® Nano System (Hybrid closed-loop system) recently? The only reviews I could find were from last year.

I have been using the Medtrum pump for about 5 years and the CGM for about 2. It has been some time (years) since I experienced problems (and never ever had kinked cannulas) with the the pump although there were some quality issues when it was first released a number of ywars back. I love the small size and the phone app and the support team are fantastic.
However, if you are considered using the HCL feature, I recommend reading this article: https://abcd.care/announcement/dtn-statement-regarding-use-medtrum-hcl-systems
It is the reason I am not using the HCL capability.

Have you tried under patches with the Omnipod to protect your skin from the adhesive or Skin Tac?

Thank you for your helpful answer

Yes, I’ve tried using Cavilon cream and some Skin Tac. At the moment it’s working fine, but the team told me it might get worse again.

To me, if you have found a solution to the problem, then just continue as you are. Surely the time to change things is if it gets worse and you don't have any other solutions.

It is also possible the allergic reaction will subside. I have had skin allergies to horses and cats and grass and trees during my lifetime but I have had horses for the last 30 years with no problems and I mow the lawns every summer without problem and I have a cat, so whilst I did have allergies to those things, I currently don't react to them. I do think that consistent exposure can dull the reaction rather that make it worse for some people.

Thank you Barbara. I guess that what I'm going to do, while its working.

I forgot to mention skin reactions with Medtrum, in case you decide to go in that direction. I used to get a nasty reaction with the Nano pump unless I used the underpatches Medtrum provided free of charge.
Late last year, they introduced a hypoallergenic patch (the bit of the pump which is thrown away - unlike Omnipod, the "brains" are reused) which has been brilliant. I have had no issues since I started using them and it is slightly easier (and neater) not needing the underpatches.

If you start getting issues with OmnniPOd and Cavillon/SkinTac, another option is to create underpatches. Until Medtrum provided their own, they recommended HypaFix Tape which worked well.

I've seen the Hypoallergenic patch - it's brilliant. I wish all the others company will follow it. Thanks for recommending the HypaFix tape, I'm currently using the Tegaderm Film (3M) and for now it's doing a good job.

I've also attaching here a pdf which sent to me by my team covered the alternative solutions and tips for those who using a pump. I guess there are others that might having similar issues as myself.
