Hi

I have been on Humalin M3 for a few years and recently I was put on trulicity but had to stop that after 3 weeks due to horrendous stomach pains. I have been put back on sukkarto Sr 500 mg - currently on 1 a day, upping to 2 a day from Thursday and 4 a day from next week.

I am struggling with my sugars again so have upped my insulin - when I was on trulicity I was taking 8 units am and pm now I’m on 12 units both am and pm but think I am going to have to up it. its so frustrating I’ve lost 16lbs on low calorie low carb diet but can see weight going back on with increased insulin.

How does sukkarto sr work? does It just release slowly and how long does it take for Sukkarto Sr to start lowering sugar levels? I just worry I have done so well it just seems to be a battle

thanks

It does not work on lower sugars directly, it works by encouraging your muscles to use glucose(sugar) more efficiently, to reduce Insulin resistance. It does not tend to work quickly.

Hi and welcome. You mention Low-Carb & Low-Calorie. My suggestion is to forget Calories and focus on Low-Carb. Putting on weight when on insulin implies you are having too many Carbs. That's why it's important to focus on Carbs. If you have some excess weight as a T2 then you will have insulin resistance which makes it difficult for the insulin to work. Metformin works by reducing the glucose output from the liver. It only has small effect so don't rely on it helping weight loss or blood sugar reduction by much but every little helps. It should start to work over a week or so. It usually comes back to the Carbs so set yourself a daily limit of, say, 150gm and see how you go. It can be tweaked from there. Have enough Fats & Proteins to keep you feeling full.

Why do you think upping the insulin will make you put on weight ?

Thank you for your reply’s. i have been aiming on under 150 carbs per day. mostly it’s around the 100g mark. Previously insulin as gained my weight but that was before I was on low carb and low cal diet. Had a much better day today with readings. Thanks for all your help I appreciate it
