Hi diagnosed 4 weeks ago 3rd week on sukkarto. 1st jab trulicity last wed. Can any one offer advice how long can I expect sude effects
Thanks

What side effects are you having?

Hi Suuy, I've just googled it and Sukkarto is a form of metformin, which the data sheet says has the side effects of:
"Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 people):
  • Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach ache or loss of appetite. If you get these, do not stop taking the tablets as these symptoms will normally go away in about 2 weeks. It helps if you take your tablets with or immediately after a meal.
Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):
  • Taste disturbance.
Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):
  • Skin rashes including redness, itching and hives.
  • Decreased vitamin B12 levels."
So according to this, if it's digestive problems you're having, they should resolve within a couple of weeks. If you're still having problems 3 weeks in, can you make another appointment with the GP and see if you can be put on a different medication? Some people get on fine with metformin (I had a weird taste in my mouth, but no other side effects) and others get unpleasant bowels. Your digestive system may get used to it, but it may not, so you're better to try and get different medication, rather than suffering with it. Are you taking it with food, as this is meant to help with some people.

I hope you get it sorted and feel better soon, Sarah

Sorry to hear you are getting some side effects from your meds @Suuy

Is it a bit of digestive upheaval that you are getting?

Some other members seem to have found that this can settle down after a week or two on various meds, and can be helped by starting on a low dose and increasing gradually for some of the injectables.

How long have you been taking the meds?
