I wear a silicon band which says I had an AAA operation 6 years ago (so don't take me to a cottage hospital, but a major hospital who can do AAA repairs) I'm also getting one which will say "Diabetic".

Just checked the link. Some really nice bracelets and leather bands. Thought about getting one for hubby as he is on blood thinner. Unfortunately even the larger sizes won't go round his wrist.

I carry a card in my wallet stating I’m Diabetic & Take Insulin
plus as wear a Libra that’s obviously visible, my bloods display on my phone
& watch, also as others have already posted ICE Wife (#Diabetic) is on my phone as emergency contact
thinking for me that’s enough to make people aware, although obviously some people with complications or other conditions a more detailed medical information might be a good idea.

I wear an SOS talisman bracelet when im out......velcro strap cos of my big wrists

Reason being i have so many health issues.......diabetes is about number 4 or 5 in the pecking order.......that if i collapsed i want the paramedics to know what i have....what meds im on
...my nhs number so they can look up my record.....who to contact etc

A question........if you have contact details on your phone under ICE how do they open your phone if its password enabled......like it should be.......and you are incapable of doing it?

On the iPhone long press and hold the lowest RH and the LH button until you get this screen where you can slide the Medical ID Button to get your medical record that you have set up :

I have the details under ICe in my phone, but I also got a tatoo, after coming across three people having severe hypos and calling emergency services in one week. Too late to give them anything to eat. It made me panic and my consultant advised that I should carry something with me. I like the jewellery that I already wear and didn’t want to change that so went for the tattoo instead. Good talking point.

Thanks i didt know that I have my ICE contact on phone but wondered how they would access it as my phone is locked

On iOS, the Medical ID stuff is also on the bottom-left of the Emergency Call screen if someone who isn’t you is trying to call Emergency Services.

Great idea about the velcro strap. I will look into that as hubby struggles to find watch straps etc to fit. They need to be at least 25cm or longer. I think they used to call it big boned. Me on the other hand often gets child size if small adult is too loose. (They do say opposites attract )

I’ve had to replace the strap on mine and fortunately the zig-zag watchstrap-style clasp they used can be hinged open and will clamp down on replacement leather strips - so in theory I could have made it any size I wanted.

When i bought it it had a lovely leather strap......lasted a few months before snapping cos of my big boned wrists

I went all over trying to get a replacement but no one seemed to do one big enough......but one little shop i went in had velcro ones......cost about a fiver including fitting.....still going strong over a year later

I have a medic alert necklace which I've had since I was diagnosed (actually I think they issued me a replacement when the London telephone number dialling codes changed), in any case there's no red paint left on it any more. I also have a card in my wallet next to my drivers licence - if that's taken out for someone to look at it they will see the card.

Phone lockscreen says that I'm Type 1 diabetic alongside other ICE/contact info, etc.

I also wear disposable (well they seem to fall off every once in a while) silicone sports band type things when riding my bike - the appeal of the silicone ones here is that it will fit on top of whatever jacket (sleeve) I'm wearing.

I bought a generic set of 5 on Amazon for ~£10 (which simply say "Type 1 Diabetes". I've just manged to (presumably) break (it wasn't there when I got home) my 2nd one after ~1.5y, or ~270 rides or ~430h so they don't last too badly.

I was just looking at the ones that are available, and I see there are some which say something along the lines of "Type 1 Diabetic, requires insulin". I've no idea why someone would want this on their wrist. I'd far prefer to have one made up that said "If in doubt, give me sugar".
