We've got some friends visiting Filey from Manchester on Tuesday so we're going out for a meal with them. We're going to the Byways in Scarborough which is the same Hungry Horse restaurant that we went to on 20th June.
I should be looking forward to having my meal which I've chosen already - starter - garlic breaded mushrooms with a mayo dip then main course - Classic Wholetail Scampi 10 pieces with chips and peas - but I already feel as though it's a disaster because I've emailed and facebook messaged the restaurant to ask about nutritional information re carbs but not heard anything back except they are working on getting the information.

If you go to the Hungry Horse web site you should find Nutritional information which is downloadable as a PDF rather long but does list every item including sauces, dips as well as the actual food.

The nutritional PDF states

garlic breaded mushrooms with garlic dip - 55.3g carbs per serving

fot the scampi dish you'll have to look through yourself and add up the individuals you choose to accompany them but very easy to get hold of the information on their website

Somebody has been kind enough to work it out for you but there must be some lower carb meals on their menu which would be equally as enjoyable without such a high carb content.
You have chosen a meal with many high carb foods to challenge your body with plus they are probably quite fatty as well.

I think you have the nutracheck app? Do you know how to use it for eating out?

On iPhone: press the green box, eating out, pubs, hungry horse then everything is there.

@Leadinglights is it 6 pages? If it is then I've downloaded the right one.

No it's 23 pages

Thank you all for your help with this - I'm already feeling a bit happier.

@Leadinglights can you suggest a meal with fewer high carb foods? Maybe I could just have the scampi on its own

You obviously like scampi so have that with salad and coleslaw.
The only thing I would eat there would be the scampi - but it's an option so thank you

I know she is but @Pattidevans had implied that the 100g of carb in the meal she was planning was a bit too much.
100g is getting towards the top of my personal limit for fear of over-dosing the insulin I must admit but really there should be no issue.

I suppose on reflection, if I consider how generally healthy food is going to be with that number of carbs in it (leaving carbs aside), I'd be struggling to justify it on those grounds. There's not going to be many foods running at that level which are not also going to be packed with fats, salts and all manner of other c**p. In fact, I can't think of anything off the top of my head. You're really into takeaway territory there I guess.

I've seen another thing on the menu - fish finger & mayo wrap but there is a difference in the carb amount between the Hungry Horse info and the nutracheck info

The top one (assume this is the Hungry horse's own one) gives you the carb amount including the wrap. The lower one seems to be just the fish fingers and Mayo, leaving you the choice to add on the wrap or the Baguette.
Ha! @Lucyr types faster than I do!
