For people on mdi who uses freestyle sensor scans only and NOT finger pricking unless hypo or high?

Do you use it for testing before meal?

I use my phone to scan before meals, and probably about 20+ times a day. The only time i finger prick is if the sensor tells me something that i don't feel, if i feel low or high, and if i've had a hypo before going out in the car i always finger prick during tge hypo and after the 45 mins to confirm the reading. The libre alarm has just let me know i'm going low fast, but i don't feel it and the finger prick has confirmed 8.2!

As I have already stated on your other posts on the subject, I rely almost exclusively on Libre scans for tracking my BG, meal dosing and treating hypos or corrections unless it doesn't correspond to how I feel or levels are very high (13+) or very low (-3) both of which are pretty rare occurrences these days. I do random tests when I start a new sensor to check it is "close enough" to a finger prick and after that I might do a very occasional finger prick when my levels are nice and stable to double check or if things start to go awry with my levels but mostly I am very confident of the Libre being accurate enough to base normal insulin dose corrections on.

Thanks you for your reply - I'm just more and more going towards my finger pricking - I think using both is throwing me

And that is fine. You need to do what you are most comfortable with but as I said in one of your other posts, if you are not using the Libre to gain the benefit of it then tell your DSN that it is not for you as there are other people who are desperate to get it and use it to improve their diabetes management. It is £1000 of NHS resources a year that could be better used by someone else. That is not a criticism of you at all and it is good that you have tried it, but just important not to waste NHS finances, particularly in the current climate.

Using 2 measuring tools will always cause a differential in results, you have to trust one system, in this case a libre unless you feel something is wrong and you need a confirmation from a more accurate measurement, if you are using a libre and don’t trust it, it may not be a useful tool for you. As a professional engineer I can use a tape measure to get a more or less measurement but if I Want to measure to micron levels I’ll use a laser, can’t compare apples with pears

I go with libre results and finger prick pretty much only 1st thing in the morning to see how “off”‘ (it at all) the libre is then I can take that into account during the day. Also finger prick if I feel different to what libre says. Libre 2 does appear much more accurate than libre 1

I only use fingerprick when I get the “try again in ten minutes” message, because that can be caused by rapid changes in glucose levels, and when coming out of a hypo. Libre 2 is very accurate going down low, but is slow to catch up coming back up.
